MX3 Blog #5 – Acts and Affection

By: Lisa Wiebe

Our time so far in Central Asia has been full and it has been eye-opening. As I reflect on the past week and a few days, a consistent experience I’ve had is being met with the humbling hospitality and warmth of the people. This is shown not just through the way food is shared and lavished upon us as visitors, but in the way people have been open to sharing their lives with us. I see the joy found in having a conversation with us, even as strangers to them and to the land. The care and attention shared between people here has warmed my heart and inspired me to extend the same affection. We have been nothing less than fully embraced.

Thinking about these things reminds me of the fellowship of believers in Acts. They shared all possessions and had meals together everyday. Every opportunity for togetherness and worship was taken full advantage of. I have been blessed by seeing this image of God’s family with such clarity. I look forward to learning more and receiving more of this kind of blessing from our cousins in Central Asia.
Thank you for praying alongside us as we pray! We keep exploring and learning, confident in God’s provision through it all.
