Successful 2020 Annual Golf Tournaments

Steinbach Bible College was thrilled to be able to host the celebratory 10th Annual Golf Tournaments on August 11th and 25th. Planning this year certainly proved unique with postponed dates and navigating regularly changing protocols, raising questions of whether the events would be able to move forward at all.

Fortunately, we were able to have two beautiful days on the course. None of this would have been possible without the support of our sponsors and golfers.

“I am humbled by their kindness, that in spite of the difficulties and challenges they all had to face too, they encouraged us and lifted our spirits with their support,” says Els Fenton, Director of Advancement at SBC.

With a sold-out attendance, the Steinbach tournament at Quarry Oaks Golf Course on August 11 went off without a hitch. Despite not being able to feast on the always anticipated steak dinner, golfers were able to enjoy a round with ample amounts of food and treats, good weather, and excellent company.

One golfer raved, “Our foursome was amazed at how well organized the entire day turned out to be; from registration to the end was a very enjoyable day!”

Two weeks later, August 25 opened with a rolling morning mist over the hills of the Minnewasta Golf Course, tucked into the Pembina Valley, which commenced another day of perfect weather, fun, and fellowship in support of SBC.

As part of the fundraising events, raffle tickets were sold throughout the summer for a chance for one winner to receive a whirlwind daytrip to the Jack Nicklaus Signature Course, Northern Bear Golf Club, in Sherwood Park, Alberta with flights, limo rides, and all food covered with two friends and SBC President Rob Reimer.

“What a great surprise! I am very much looking forward to this event. SBC holds a special place in my heart as a former student and supporting the college year after year is a no-brainer for me,” says grand prize winner and SBC alum, Sheldon Dueck. “Thank you to you for nurturing young minds and getting them spiritually ready for the rest of their lives!”

Between the two tournaments, SBC has raised $103,000 that will go towards continuing to support Christian higher education at SBC, empowering servant leaders to follow Jesus, serve the church, and engage the (ever-changing) world.

“A special thank you to those of you supported us in both tournaments. We appreciate you!” says Fenton.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, supported us, and to Quarry Oaks and Minnewasta for their work in providing a safe environment for all participants to enjoy the day.
