Dr. Terry Hiebert Named Interim President of SBC
[STEINBACH, MB – March 17, 2022] – Steinbach Bible College and its Board of Directors have announced today that Dr. Terry Hiebert has been appointed to serve as the Interim President of SBC, effective May 1, 2022.
Dr. Hiebert has served at the college as a faculty member for the past 27 years in the fields of Theology and Humanities. Since 2006, he has been the head of the academic department in the role of the Academic Dean.
“The Board is pleased to announce the appointment of an interim President,” Trevor Arsenault, Chair of the SBC Board of Directors, stated. “We look forward to working with Terry and the many years of leadership experience he brings to the college.”
Hiebert began teaching post-secondary education in 1992 at Bethany Bible Institute in Hepburn, Saskatchewan. His previous experience includes serving as Lead Pastor of Warman Gospel Church from 1987-1992. He has a master’s degree from Denver Seminary in which he received in 1984, and a PhD from Baylor University in 1994.
“I desire to offer hope, life, and vision for the future to students, staff, board, and community as we emerge from our COVID disruption,” Hiebert explained. “Since COVID our staff has shown amazing resilience, flexibility, and trust in God, for which I am grateful. These qualities will prepare us well to imagine education that empowers next-generation servant leaders.”
He will succeed Dr. Rob Reimer, who is stepping down as SBC President after 15 years of dedicated service at the end of April.
“I have enjoyed serving with President Reimer for the past 15 years and look forward to supporting the great culture and momentum set in place,” Hiebert expressed.
“We ask that you continue to keep the Board and Search Team in your prayers as we continue to search for a President,” Arsenault concluded. “Please pray for Terry as he transitions into this role and the new responsibilities he will have.”
