Each year, students gather together for the very last chapel of semester to reflect on their year, recognize the accomplishments of one another, and look ahead to the future with joyful anticipation.

From home offices, our Celebration Chapel was held in the afternoon of Friday, April 24 for students, faculty, and staff online. In a nod to the achievements being recognized that afternoon that typically would take place at formal graduation celebrations, such as naming our 2020 graduates and recognizing award winners, President Rob Reimer and Academic Dean Terry Hiebert donned their official graduation regalia; an amusing and touching tribute. With official ceremonies postponed until fall 2020, we hope to continue celebrating these graduates in person with family and friends (more details will come out in future weeks). Below is a summary recognizing this year’s award winners for 2019-2020.

Congratulations to this year’s valedictorian, JUSTIN MARCHAND, (BA Ministry Leadership, Youth minor). The valedictorian is voted on by the graduating class and approved by faculty. Valedictorians are BA grads who can speak well for the entire graduating class.

In keeping with our mission of empowering servant leaders to follow Jesus, serve the church and engage the world for God’s kingdom, these SBC Academic Awards are presented to graduating students demonstrating academic achievement (GPA 3.0 or higher) in their major or focus area, quality Christian character, and successful student ministry:
