Taking It All In

Waking up in a country that is brand new to you can be scary, but for some of us it is the most relaxing feeling you can have. Going from below 30 weather to waking up with condensation on my window because of humidity is one of the most thrilling feelings for me, and many others on our team. Today is our first day in Spain (Saturday, February 15)

The group of people I am staying with live about 20 minutes away from everyone else, this gives us a really good opportunity to go for a morning walk, and see the community around us. Our walk takes us to the EMC training center here in Algeciras which is where all 18 of us are meeting daily to learn, eat, play card games, and connect with local believers.

We started our day at the EMC center but were quickly ushered out of the door to go take a jab at shopping at the local grocery store for the supper we are going to share as a group this evening. After a quick scavenger hunt we all took a walk to a place called Plaza Alta. Plaza Alta is the city center of Algeciras, it is full of beautiful architecture and small shops. This is where we had our first encounter with tapas -  small sandwiches and little meals that you can buy almost anywhere here. They were all so good, but to our surprise the tapas were so small! (our Canadian portions are massive in comparison).

In the evening, after walking around Algeciras for a little while being able to take in the local scenery, most of us were feeling jet lagged and were very ready for bed. With heavy eyes we all met and did a quick debrief and prayed with one another. It is such a blessing to have such a big community around to connect with, pray with, and laugh with (there has been a lot of that so far). We all look forward to seeing what the rest of our journey here in Spain looks like.

Here are a couple things you can pray for!
- Please pray that as we are surrounded by a different language, we are still able to connect with people well and involve ourselves in the community
- Pray as well for the local believers that we will meet, that our time together would be encouraging for everyone involved
- And lastly pray for Carl and Lisa as they continue to plan and figure out what this massive group of young adults are going to be doing in Spain

Thank you for reading, and continually praying for our group as we explore our God's Kingdom in a different part of the world.

Dios les bendiga, Cole Murdock
