Steinbach Bible College is an evangelical Anabaptist college empowering servant leaders to follow Jesus, serve the church, and engage the world. This mission is expressed as we practice our core values: the Bible is the foundation for learning, discipleship is the process of learning, community is the context of learning, and mission the purpose of learning. Classroom academics, student life, corporate worship, and practical ministry experience combine to train servant leaders for church ministry and advancing the work of God in the world.

Student Ministry is based on the following theological assumptions:

1. The call to discipleship is a call to servant leadership. Jesus Christ is the model servant leader who sacrificed himself to serve God and others. As Jesus sacrificed his life for God’s kingdom, so we should be willing to sacrifice ourselves.
2. Ministry is a natural expression of the Christian life. Student Ministries provide the student with experiences in serving God and his Church. As ministry learning experiences, they are an important part of the educational program at the college.
3. Every follower of Christ possesses spiritual gifts and abilities to serve the body of Christ. These gifts need to be discovered, affirmed, developed and utilized to the full extent for building up the Church in its God-given mission.
4. The Christian life is a calling and a vocation from God. The requirements of Christian ministry are such that students need to enter with practical experience.
5. The Church is the means that God is using to proclaim his love for the world. Student Ministry needs to have the local church as a base and/or focus.

Kinds of Ministries:

1. Service Learning (SL) is a weekly ministry, required of all students. (Non-academic unit)
2. Practicum is the focused study and practical application of ministry in a student's major. This may be done part-time during the year or full-time in the summer months. (Academic credit)
3. Internship is the more extensive focused training and practical application in a student's major and is normally taken full-time during an entire semester or part time during the year. (Academic credit)
